Project Overview
This project was created for a horticulture course at BYU-Idaho and focused on teaching the elements and principles of floral design to students aged 18–24 in Rexburg, Idaho.
I served as the director and creative lead, guiding a team through the full production pipeline, from narrative structure and scripting to final animation and editing.
The final deliverable was a 7:54 instructional video designed to transform a traditionally lecture-based topic into a visually engaging and concept-driven learning experience.
Tools & Production Pipeline
This project combined live-action footage with advanced motion design and animation techniques, including:
          • Adobe After Effects (motion design, compositing, kinetic typography)
                    2D animation + basic 3D elements
                    Rigged and animated hand illustration (Duik/Rubberhose)
          • Adobe Premiere Pro (editing and sequencing)
          • Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator (asset design)
          • Blackmagic Pocket 6k Camera (on-location filming)
The visual style leaned into a vivid, mixed-media aesthetic to maintain engagement and reinforce conceptual clarity.
The project was built around the idea that design exists in everyday life, and that learning becomes easier when concepts are tied to familiar experiences.
This allowed each concept to be introduced intellectually, reinforced through analogy, and then visualized in context.
To create clarity across multiple concepts, I designed a visual system based on “filters” that highlight the element or principle that is being explained.
The assets created for the transitions created for the 14 plants and 22 Floral Arrangements are:
     • Transition in (Filter on)
     • Space
     • Color
     • Size
     • Fragrance
     • Texture
     • Line
This required close attention to detail, given the large number of assets involved.
INTRO
The intro needed to be impactful and needed to connect visually what was said verbally. It needed to connect the information with the holistic background of the campus. That being said, I collected some inspiration from the following resources.
